Ease of Doing Business (EoDB), an index published by the World Bank which is a benchmark study of regulations. The study consists of a questionnaire which centers on a simple business case that ensures comparability across economies and over time. The survey also bases assumptions on the legal form of the business, size, location, and nature of its operations. The ease of doing business index is meant to measure regulations directly affecting businesses and does not directly measure more general conditions such as a nation's proximity to large markets, quality of infrastructure, inflation, or crime. It is an aggregate figure that includes different parameters which define the Ease of Doing Business in a country. Government of India (GoI) had decided to formulate strategies and steps towards creating an enabling framework for stimulating investments and growth across the primary, secondary and tertiary sectors.Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), GoI had laid emphasis on simplification and rationalization of the existing rules and introduction of information technology to make governance more efficient, effective, simple and user-friendly.

It aims to provide ease in setting up a business, registration of property, labour compliances, infrastructure availability, finance and tax issues, inspection reforms and ease in exiting business etc.
